Thank you supporters at AEX Fredericton and Caper Con! What a wonderful experience to be at both events this year. I appreciate everyone who dropped by to chat, to buy, to sign up for my newsletter. Caper Con was my best event ever so huge thanks to all you readers in Cape Breton :) This month I am off to visit my son in France, so I am looking forward to some touring and rest time. The summer will be a mix of work, family fun, and starting a new book - the final one in the Prophecy Series. If you've read this series I would love your input. Which characters do you relate to and want to hear more about? what do you think will happen next? Send me your thoughts and ideas and you never know what might show up in the final story. To catch up on the Prophecy series or any my books, you can find them on Amazon, at the Maritime Mosaic Market in Amherst NS. For PEI readers they can be found at Book Mark, Charlottetown, Cavendish Tourist Mart, Clow's General Store, and Victoria Glass Studio. You can also buy directly from me by emailing kmacleodwilkie@gmail.com. Happy Reading! Karen
I was delighted to meet new readers at the Charlottetown Maker's Marker in December of 2024 and recently at the Atlantic Entertainment Expo in Charlottetown. There were so many friendly people at each event and I appreciated everyone who dropped by my table, even if just for a chat. A third book in the Essie's Healing Place series is in revision and I hope to have it out in the summer. However, two weeks ago my mom died, thus my writing timelines are different than I thought a month ago. So please bear with me. The grieving journey is difficult and focus is not always possible as anyone who has gone through this experience well knows. For now I will celebrate small steps forward with my writing and book sales. I am looking forward to attending AEX in Fredericton this month and CaperCon in May. I am excited to announce that my books are now available at the Maritime Mosaic Market in Amherst NS. For PEI readers they can be found at Book Mark, Charlottetown Indigo, Cavendish Tourist Mart, Clow's General Store, and Victoria Glass Studio. You can also buy directly from me by emailing kmacleodwilkie@gmail.com. May you find small goodnesses in each day! Best Wishes, Karen
The past months have flown by as I worked and reworked the manuscript for my newest book "Isle of the Dawning Sun". This is a brand new series that drew me in and refused to be put down, so that I set aside my other series to complete this work. Moratovia is a devastated country where people survive eating a gray mash called Susta and the Gray permeates all aspects of life. Led by Myrtle, a remnant of the people fled years ago and have lived a life of color and beauty on the Isle of the Dawning Sun. But the Gray is spreading and Myrtle fears for her people and her world. She turns to the old legends of the Guardians and calls to the stars for help. Will her call be answered? Can the Gray be overcome? I am delighted to be heading to the PEI Christmas Makers Market to share my books November 30th to December 1st at the Eastlink Centre. This past year I submitted two of my books to a contest and both Fresh Start and The Rising received a five-star Reader's Favorite review. All six of my books will be for sale at the Market. I hope to see some of you there and maybe a book would be just the Christmas gift you would like to give to a special someone. For Essie's Healing Place fans, the rough draft of book three is nearly finished with the intent to publish in the winter. Then I will be diving into the final book in The Prophecy series. If you have hopes for where the story will go - I would love to hear from you. Best Wishes, Karen
Book Three in the Prophecy Series, The Rising,
My spring season kicked off with a wonderful trip through the States to Walt Disney World with my eldest daughter - Julia. We had a fabulous time together and enjoyed letting ourselves be kids and do all the fun things at Disney! (See photo above) I returned to work and a week later experienced Covid for a second time – thankfully less intensely than back in November. As I was recovering, I was able to catch up on some writing and thus my third book in the Prophecy series is now with my editor – Yippee! This book follows a mother and son, Gerarda and Rebel, in the dwarf community and Queen Amethyst and Asa (Brigid’s younger brother) in the Fairy Realm. Their journeys bring them through crisis to new beginnings as a network of people is established which adds new dimensions to the prophecy. My goal is to have this book published in the summer so you can enjoy a fun summer read. I have started another Essie’s Healing Place book, so if you have ideas or requests about what you would like me to include – drop me a line. I would love to hear from you. Best Wishes, Karen
One of my favourite Christmas memories is receiving a new book from Santa, and curling up late on Christmas day to dive into the wonder of who I would meet, where I would go, and what I would learn from this new adventure. Now I enjoy writing stories for others to experience. Last month, I tried something new – I participated in NaNoWriMo – an international writing challenge in which authors seek to daily write with an end goal of 50,000 words. I signed up, and Nov 1st
Welcome new and former email friends as I update you on what has been happening in my writing world. The summer was filled with camping and family times, renovations and work commitments, so my writing took a back seat for a while. Back in action again, this past week I had a blast as I dressed in pirate garb and set up in the Farmer’s Pantry in St. Peter’s NS. What a wonderful spot with delicious food and excellent coffee! Thank you to Val Hiltz (a local connection) and Jennifer Snowden (owner) who were so hospitable. On to Sydney, I set up at Caper Con (a pop culture fan convention) where I sold several books, attended workshops, and met some awesome people. My daughter Julia was hugely helpful in connecting with fans, and covering the table so I could participate in workshops that taught me so much. The end of this month I will retreat to a quiet place and diligently pump out what is needed for the third book in the Prophecy series. For those of you who enjoy the fantasy genre, Book 2 The Circle Widens
A Perfect Pairing! Do you enjoy an amazing cup of coffee and a story that draws you in? On Wednesday June 22nd
Happy April! Isn’t it wonderful to see the crocuses pushing up and sharing their promise of warmer weather to come? The other morning the moon still glowed off my back deck and its mystical presence urged me to relax and be patient, life is unfolding as it needs to. Forty-four people responded to my first Podcast and I am grateful to those who took the time to listen. My podcasts are my gift to you. They are free. They contain a collection of self-care tips (humming, grounding, etc.) that I’ve learned through the years, so you can experiment and try things you might not have attempted before and discover why they may improve well-being. Check one out at kmacleodwilkie.podbean.com. My first Official Book Signing event is happening Sunday May 1st
Connections is my word for March! It has been a delightful month. I travelled to Toronto to visit my daughter, Suzanne, to meet my editor face to face for the first time, and to scout out various locations for scene setting for a new novel. What a glorious time and I feel so refreshed as I return home to PEI. My bi-weekly podcast series has launched as a new way to connect with my audience. The focus of this first series is healing through self-care tips and reflections to help change the daily stories we tell ourselves in ways that may transform our lives. The series can be found at kmacleodwilkie.podbean.com. I am excited to share that I will be re-connecting with a beloved congregation at South Shore United Church as I take up a contract position with them for ¾ time on April 1st
